‘It was time for the Great Grislygust Grow-Off and this year Marvin planned to grow the tastiest tomatoes in town.’

I’ve been growing tomatoes for as long as I can remember, but every year it always amazes me how, in just a few short months, such tiny seeds can produce enormous plants, with so many tremendously tasty tomatoes.

Then, I heard about the annual ‘La Tomatina’ festival in Spain, where each August, people flock to the town of Bunol and throw ripe tomatoes at each other in a huge, messy fight!

And so, the idea for a tomato-based picture book was born. In the story, Marvin’s tomato plant would become a monster, with super-splatting powers. Stand well back!
